The Brief
Our team was asked to carry out this project due to our extensive experience in soft strip services where detailed planning was required alongside the removal of large volumes of waste.
The main focus of this project was to soft strip a wide range of fixtures and materials from the historically important Tetley Hall, a former residence of the famous brewing family.
We were also to be accountable ensuring the responsible and compliant disposalof all stripped materials.
Key project challenges
The primary challenges with this soft strip project were the need to manage a large amount of waste within a historic residential building, while alsoprotectinga number of important original features including:
- The main staircase’s oak banister
- A stained-glass window
- The original mosaic tiled floor
Difficult winter weather conditions, a site with limited access and close proximityto student and elderly accommodation made planning waste disposal schedules particularly demanding.
Soft strip services provided
Our experienced team carried out the soft strip and clearance of a varied range of items, including:
- Floor coverings – carpets, tiles etc
- Extensive plaster and lath ceilings areas
- All bathroom fixtures and fittings.
- Window frames
- Skirting boards and architraves
- Pigeon guano
- Fire escape gantry
Waste disposal containers and transport were provided by our sister company Foxhall Environmentalwho transported the waste to our local transfer station (to reduce vehicle milage) and provided the digital waste consignment notes to the client. We always aim to minimise the environmental impact of our work and on this project over 95% of all waste was recycled.
To ensure safety and compliance a fully comprehensive risk assessment and methodology statement were produced, along with a site file including daily updates and work permits.
